“Catherine Hay was one of the bravest and most selfless people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. We worked in the same lab at the Life Sciences Institute, and she was also one of the founding members of our undergraduate student club there.

She always worked with sincerity and excellence, whether it was research or at her job as an EMT. I still can’t find the words to process her loss, may she rest in peace and may her family find the strength to make it through this time.”

“A dear friend of mine from high school, Catherine Hay, was reported missing and was later found dead yesterday. Cate was an unbelievably kind soul. She was funny, smart, caring, and a LITERAL life saver—working as an EMT.

Some of my fondest memories of high school involved Cate and our humanities study group stifling laughter together as we worked in class. Even as we grew apart later in high school, Cate and her family continued to stay in my heart. They are some of the best people in the world.

I can’t imagine what they must be going through. I am here for Cate, her mother and father, and brothers as they navigate this. All my love to a tremendously loving family. Please join me in sending condolences and thoughts to Cate’s family and loved ones.”
